Hello there! Thank you for checking this page, I appreciate your attention to me personally, & I’m happy to share a little more about who I am and why I started this blog.
My name is Ayleen. I am a Dutch 33-year-old blogger, based in Deventer, The Netherlands. An ex-lawstudent now working in retail, I live in an apartment with my cat James. I am absolute chocolate obsessed, I love to read, going out for dinner&drinks with friends, but my biggest hobby’s have got to be fashion and beauty!
For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with everything beauty. Whenever my mom took me along with her running errands, I was always drawn to the makeup section in de drugstore, always trying out new nail polishes and nagging my mom for a another lipgloss or hand lotion. Later on, when I first started getting my allowance, the drugstore was pretty much the place where I would spend all of my money. I started reading beautyblogs, and watching the good old beautyguru’s on youtube(what a time!) and I would spend all of my time and money trying out different products, figuring out what I liked and what worked for me.
When it comes to fashion, that’s a totally different story. Growing up, fashion and clothing was always a struggle for me. I was always trying to hide my body, rarely taking interest in the latest fashion trends. Whenever I did go shopping, most of the clothing would’t look right on my body. I pretty much lived in the most basic clothing you could find, solid colors(preferably black) and oversized. Accessories is what I would use to spice up my boring outfit. Statement earrings, long necklaces and colorful bags, you name it I had it! Still till this day I have a love for accessories and jewelry, they never let me down.
Currently, I have a whole new interest for fashion. I am trying to find cute clothes that would flatter my shape, and I realized that I never really developed a sense of style. I always just wore whatever would fit me, completely disregarding my personal preference or personality. Fashion became a whole new world for me, where I would try to figure out what I liked, what looked good on me and what was in trend. I discovered that I still very much like the same type of outfits, but instead of plain and boring and oversized, I now prefer a chic yet understated look, minimal and elevated. I started blogging and posting about it on instagram, et voila!, mapleminted was born.
What started as a personal interest in everything fashion and beauty, has now turned into this website full of fashion inspiration and beauty news I want to share with the world!
